Job Description

Employment Status: Contractual (3 Months to 6 Months).Based on as per organization need.

Job Context

Uttaran is an NGO working in Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged community people. Uttaran is a people-centered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.

Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- DRR Project Coordinator for the Uttaran in Cox’s Bazar region

Reports to: Director of Uttaran / Head of Programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination and Implementation

  • Coordinate and support the implementation of donor-funded DRR project across different operational areas.

  • Work closely with Program Managers to ensure timely implementation of project activities according to approved work plans and project targets.

  • Provide regular technical and operational guidance to field teams for effective project delivery.

  • Monitor project progress and identify implementation challenges, proposing practical solutions.

  • Ensure quality implementation of community-based disaster risk reduction interventions.

  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities whenever required.

    Technical Support

  • Provide technical assistance on Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), resilience building, community preparedness, early warning systems, and disaster preparedness planning.

  • Facilitate community risk assessments, contingency planning, evacuation planning, and resilience-building initiatives.

  • Ensure technical standards and best practices are followed throughout project implementation.

    Planning and Monitoring

  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to assess implementation quality and provide recommendations for improvement.

  • Review project indicators and ensure timely collection of quality data.

  • Coordinate with the MEAL team to strengthen project monitoring systems.

    Documentation and Knowledge Management

  • Document project achievements, lessons learned, case studies, and success stories.

  • Maintain updated technical resources, training materials, and project documentation.

  • Support development of communication materials and visibility documents.

  • Compile, complete and submit the reports.

    Safeguarding and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Uttaran's Code of Conduct, Safeguarding, PSEA, Child Protection, Gender Equality, Anti-Fraud, and organizational policies.

  • Promote accountability to affected populations (AAP) in all project interventions.

  • Ensure ethical conduct and confidentiality while working with vulnerable communities.

    Other Responsibilities

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the senior management in support of organizational objectives.

Experience

  • At least 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO, Development Agency

Education

    • Masters
  • Master's degree in Disaster Management, Geography, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Development Studies, Civil Engineering, Social Science, or any relevant discipline.

Additional Requirements

  • Age At least 30 years
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proven experience in program planning, implementation, budgeting, financial management, staff management, and report writing.

  • Strong knowledge of Disaster Risk Reduction frameworks and resilience programming.

  • Knowledge on climate change adaptation, community resilience building

  • Experience working with local government institutions and disaster management structures is highly desirable.
