Job Description

  1. Develop and optimize Aluminium extrusion alloys including AA6063, AA6061, AA6060, AA1350, and other commercial grades while establishing alloy recipes and process parameters to achieve required mechanical properties, surface finish, and compliance with international standards.

  2. Lead melting, alloying, holding, refining, degassing, and casting operations by optimising furnace practices and casting parameters to improve billet quality, operational efficiency, and production consistency.

  3. Monitor and control melt quality through spectrometer analysis, process monitoring, fluxing, filtration, grain refining, and hydrogen control techniques to minimise casting defects such as cracking, segregation, porosity, shrinkage, inclusions, and surface imperfections.

  4. Develop and implement quality assurance systems for billet production including chemical analysis, metallurgical testing, inspection procedures, billet quality standards, acceptance criteria, and process control mechanisms.

  5. Ensure billet quality suitable for high-speed extrusion operations while supporting extrusion teams in improving productivity, profile surface finish, anodizing quality, and resolving billet-related production challenges.

  6. Prepare SOP, technical guidelines, process parameters, quality manuals, and operational documentation while establishing effective monitoring and process control systems for sustainable production performance.

  7. Provide practical training and technical guidance to engineers, supervisors, operators, and laboratory personnel on alloy development, casting technology, billet quality improvement, and metallurgical process control.

  8. Transfer technical know-how and build local technical capability to ensure sustainable operation, workforce competency development, and continuous process improvement.

  9. Support plant management during commissioning, production ramp-up, and commercial operations by recommending productivity enhancement, quality improvement, energy optimisation, and cost reduction initiatives.

Experience

  • At least 15 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Metal & Aluminium Manufacturing

Education

    • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Materials & Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
    • Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering

Additional Requirements

  • Age At least 30 years
  • Extensive knowledge of Aluminium extrusion alloys including AA6063, AA6061, AA6060, AA1350, and other commercial grades with strong understanding of alloy chemistry, metallurgical behavior, and extrusion billet quality requirements.

  • Strong expertise in Direct Chill (DC) Billet Casting technology including casting parameter optimization, billet quality improvement, production stability, and defect minimization for high-performance extrusion applications.

  • Proficient in melt treatment processes including grain refining (Al-Ti-B), degassing, fluxing, ceramic foam filtration, and hydrogen control to ensure superior metal cleanliness and casting consistency.

  • Experienced in quality control and metallurgical analysis including spectrometer analysis, chemical composition control, macro structure and micro structure evaluation, metallurgical investigation, process auditing, and billet quality assurance systems.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, training, and technology transfer capabilities with proven experience in identifying root causes, implementing corrective and preventive actions, mentoring technical personnel, and developing sustainable workforce competency.

  • Chinese language proficiency will be considered an added advantage.
