Manager-Die Workshop, Aluminium Plant
Job Description
Design and develop extrusion dies for architectural, industrial, and customised aluminium profiles considering metal flow balance, dimensional accuracy, productivity, and superior surface finish.
Prepare optimised die designs including feeder, bearing, port-hole, bridge, mandrel, and hollow profile dies based on customer drawings and production requirements.
Develop detailed engineering drawings, 2D/3D CAD models, CAM programs, tooling layouts, fixtures, and gauges while maintaining technical documentation standards.
Analyze extrusion performance and implement die optimization strategies to improve profile quality, extrusion consistency, and production efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve extrusion-related defects including dimensional variation, twisting, bending, uneven wall thickness, and surface quality issues through effective die correction techniques.
Coordinate and provide technical support for die manufacturing processes including CNC machining, EDM, wire-cutting, heat treatment, polishing, nitriding, and finishing operations.
Establish preventive maintenance systems, die inspection procedures, repair standards, tooling traceability, and maintenance records to improve die life and operational reliability.
Develop SOPs, technical manuals, process control procedures, and quality assurance systems while conducting root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for tooling-related issues.
Provide technical training and technology transfer to engineers, supervisors, die makers, machinists, and operators while supporting commissioning, commercial production ramp-up, productivity improvement, and tooling cost reduction initiatives.
Experience
- At least 15 years

Education
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Materials & Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering
Additional Requirements
- Age At least 30 years
Extensive expertise in aluminium extrusion die design including solid, hollow, semi-hollow, bridge, port-hole, and mandrel die development with strong knowledge of bearing optimisation, metal flow analysis, extrusion ratio calculations, and profile development engineering.
Proficient in CAD/CAM and engineering design software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, UG NX, CATIA, and Inventor with hands-on experience in 3D modeling, simulation, CAM programming, CNC machining processes, engineering drawing preparation, and technical documentation.
Strong knowledge of die manufacturing technologies including CNC milling, CNC turning, Wire Cut EDM, EDM machining, heat treatment, vacuum hardening, nitriding, surface finishing, tool steel selection, die assembly, and die correction processes.
Experienced in die maintenance and quality control activities including die inspection, repair, bearing correction, polishing, nitriding control, preventive maintenance systems, tooling quality audits, dimensional inspection, process auditing, tool life management, and tooling performance monitoring.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, training, and technology transfer capabilities with proven experience in identifying root causes, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), mentoring technical personnel, and developing sustainable workforce competency.
Chinese language proficiency will be considered an added advantage.
