Job Description
- Perform Laboratory Tests: Conduct routine and specialized laboratory investigations in Hematology, Clinical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Immunology, Serology, and Microbiology as assigned.
- Operate and Maintain Laboratory Equipment: Operate, calibrate, maintain, and perform routine troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Ensure Quality Control: Perform daily internal quality control (QC), participate in quality assurance (QA) programs, and follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Report Test Results: Verify, record, and report laboratory test results accurately and promptly through the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or other approved reporting systems, immediately informing the concerned physician of any critical values.
- Maintain Laboratory Safety: Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines, use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
- Maintain Laboratory Records and Inventory: Keep accurate records of test results, specimen logs, quality control data, equipment maintenance, and monitor stock levels of reagents and consumables.
- Provide Patient Care and Communication: Explain specimen collection procedures to patients, maintain patient confidentiality, and provide courteous and professional service throughout the testing process.
- Collect Blood Samples (Phlebotomy): Perform venous and capillary blood collection safely and accurately using standard phlebotomy techniques while ensuring proper patient identification and comfort.
- Receive and Process Specimens: Collect, receive, label, register, and process blood, urine, stool, body fluids, and other clinical specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Comply with Hospital Policies: Adhere to the policies, rules, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of Universal Medical College & Hospital (UMCH) and perform any other duties assigned by the Head of the Laboratory or Hospital Management.
Experience
- At least 1 year
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Hospital, Diagnostic Centre
Education
- Diploma in Medical Technology
- Bachelor of Science (BSc)
